Kevin Durant will be out 4-8 weeks and the Thunder will have to rely on Russell Westbrook to step up in Durant's absence.
This could be the year for Westbrook, he will be the Thunders #1 option for offence so its right to assume he will have his best statistical season as part of the Thunder. If he can lead OKC and they get a good start he will be an early candidate for MVP. Westbrook is not someone who shy's away from a challenge, he will embrace his new role as the leader for the Thunder. This is the year for Westbrook to prove to everyone that he can lead a team and that he is the aplha dog in OKC. If Westbrook is going to go for MVP this is the year to do it, he's in the drivers seat and the Thunders place in the standings depends on Russell's performance out the gate.
